Passing on more information - stay alert

A neighbor from Maple Avenue asked that I forward this to the listserv.  Please note that you can also post your own items to the EBCA Messageboard at www.ebca.org.

"Last week around 11pm we saw our motion-sensing flood lights come on and then heard a HUGE noise/crash.  Upon inspection, we discovered that there were people in our backyard and that they had kicked in our gate, while attempting a quick exit.  Also, our phone box that houses our wires was open.  When I called to report this, the police told me that ALL NEIGHBORS should report everything like this and even less serious to the MC Police.  This increases police patrols to our area and should help to keep us all safe.  Even in doubt, the officer said to "report, report, report..."  So, just as a friendly reminder, the non-emergency MC Police number is 301.279.8000.  Please report all suspicious activity."

Please forward this to other neighbors and encourage them to sign up for EBCA e-alerts at www.ebca.org. To register, simply add your name and email address to the box in the upper right corner.

If you have any questions, contact Ilaya Hopkins at president@ebca.org or if it is specific to the website - our webmasters at webmaster@ebca.org.

ARMED ROBBERY IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a news letter....NEWS LETTER !!!!! I think that is the proper name for the letter I'm paying dues for. I can not see one word regarding the armed hold up of the Mexican carry out next to the BP gas station on Highland Ave. I understand they put a gun up to the head of a 7 year old child....this is news!!!!!!. The Texaco at the end of Rosedale is held up with a gun, I think I see a pattern and maybe residents want to know about these issues so they may protect a household and lock doors. I've heard rumors that this kind of news will not be printed because a realtor has mentioned that is not good for the values. Well whoever is buying a home in EBCA is not on the mailing list so that quote does not hold water. We put up with enough resident and non realtor mailings etc. from these realtors and I don't think that these few realtors should influence our newsletter for their benefit by censoring information critical for families to safeguard their homes. We should report all the news and strive to get a better Neighborhood watch program together. If you printed all the bad news ,and there is more than what I just mentioned. How about the woman assaulted a few months back? You would have more people joining the watch program. People need to know what's happening. You all sit down at the rec - center with blinders on. WAKE UP and quit letting these few realtors run the EBCA.....everyone should use a realtor outside of EBCA so that we can get back to an impartial voice.

So you will write about your backyard noise and floodlights, but a gun held to a 7 year olds head is not on the front page?
