DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE ANNUAL LABOR DAY PICNIC AT LYNNBROOK

When: Monday, September 1
Time: 2 - 5 p.m.
Where: Lynnbrook Park/Recreation Center on Newdale Road

There will be relay races, crafts, the amazing balloon guy, a moonbounce, games and more. Pizza and soda/juice will be available ($1.50 donation per ticket; one ticket per item - tickets available at the picnic) and we hope to have the Ben and Jerry's truck back again. EBCA will have a table so if you have not paid your 2008-2009 membership dues of $15/voting member, you can renew your membership there. See you at the picnic!

MONTGOMERY COUNTY IMPROVES PLASTIC RECYCLING
As of July 1, single-family homes in Montgomery County will be able to recycle all plastic bottles, containers and lids, jars, pails, buckets, and food-grade plastic tubs. Items previously not allowed - yogurt/sour cream/deli containers, peanut butter/mayonnaise jars, ice cream/margarine tubs, plastic beverage cups, flowerpots, kitty litter containers, and detergent tubs - will now be recyclable, beginning July 1, 2008.

Please note that the following items ARE NOT recyclable: If the plastic contained any hazardous material - motor oil, anti-freeze, pesticides, or insecticides - it cannot be recycled. In addition, plastic wrap, plastic bags, polystyrene, and Styrofoam are not recyclable in the County’s curbside recycling collection program. To read the detail, download Solid Waste's Civic Loop here.

MEMBERSHIP DUES: WE CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU
The fiscal year runs July 1-June 30. By now, you should have received your membership dues bill in the mail. Please return it promptly. Your membership entitles you to a vote at the EBCA general membership meetings on the many interesting debates and concerns facing our neighborhood, including the expansion at the National Naval Medical Center and ongoing developments on the Capital Crescent Trail.
